  • Shards Preview Month Contest

What’s this “Alara” business I keep hearing about? “Alara?” What is that, some fantasy mumbo-jumbo? I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to the next set “Shards,” the newest set with the one word name.

“Alara was whole once. But that was milennia ago. Where once there was a plane, now there are five: the Shards. The plane of Alara was a world rich with mana, a world in balance… until the Sundering. In a cataclysm of unimaginable proportions, Alara was rent asunder into five saparate worlds, each a refraction of the others.” – Nizzerds of the Coast

Ugh! What can we do in order to fix this trainwreck of nerdiness and transform it into a train-creation of awesomeness? The only sufficient response is an AMAZING HUMOROUS CONTENT SUBMISSION CONTEST.

I literally hear you asking, “How will this contest work?” Every piece of Officially Acknowledged Content you create during August and September counts toward your standing in the contest, as long as at least one of those pieces of content is a Shards-related humor article. When this time period ends, everyone will vote for which person deserves to win the contest based on the quantity and/or quality of his or her submissions over the course of the submission period. One fantastic article could win it. A dozen “pretty funny” items could win it. Even non-funny content, like tournament reports and strategy articles, can contribute to your victory. It’s up to the plebes!

The person who wins first place in the vote wins an 18 Shards booster packs, which constitutes 0.5 times (!!) a box! Second place wins 9 Shards booster packs. Third place wins 6 Shards booster packs. Fourth place wins 3 Shards booster packs. These prizes have been made possible by donations from our benefactors, an elite group, but not elite to the point of exclusivity!

So what’s the hold-up, jabroni? I’ve called your boss — he/she says you can put off your tasks for as long as it takes.

  • Shadowmoor Preview Month Contest

The Aurora has plunged Lorwyn into eternal night, transforming the once-idyllic plane into the eerie world of Shadowmoor. The gloom has transformed its denizens, too — creatures of fable have become monsters from dark fairytales. Races and characters introduced in Lorwyn are back, but with twisted allegiances and new powers.

Shut up! We’ve got no time for such nonsense, “Wizards of the Coast”. That’s because this is Shadowmoor Preview Month, and it would be inappropriate for us here at Good Gamery to let such a thing pass by without acknowledging it with an AMAZING HUMOROUS CONTENT SUBMISSION CONTEST.

I literally hear you asking, “How will this contest work?” Every piece of Officially Acknowledged Content you create during April counts toward your standing in the contest, as long as one of those pieces of content is a Shadowmoor-related humor article. When April ends, everyone will vote for which person deserves to win the contest based on the quantity and/or quality of his or her submissions over the course of the month. One fantastic article could win it. A dozen “pretty funny” items could win it. Even non-funny content, like tournament reports and strategy articles, can contribute to your victory. It’s up to the plebes!

The person who wins first place in the vote wins an entire box of Shadowmoor booster packs. Second place wins 18 Shadowmoor booster packs. Third place wins 9 Shadowmoor booster packs. Fourth place wins 3 Shadowmoor booster packs. These prizes have been donated by the MT2 New Contest Crew — thanks guys!

So what are you waiting for? Your mommy to nag you? Shut up! We’ve got no time for such nonsense. Get that content created, because gobs of free Magic cards are at stake, jabroni!

  • Uncle Mark’s Make-a-New-Format Contest and MWS Tournament [Vote]

If you have no idea what I am talking about, you can find the previous thread here.

Okay! Now we get to vote on what format YOU would like to play with. Write-in votes are accepted too.

    Here’s what the formats are:

Mini Epic: (Thought up by Falsenipple) This format is: at the beginning of every player’s upkeep, a 1 mana Sorcery or Instant of their choice will be put on the stack. You pick the Sorcery/Instant before the tournament starts, and must stick with it through each round. The 1 mana I/S can be countered, however, it doesn’t count towards storm. Extended banlist.

Auction of the GG/Mythbusters: This is actually two of RHat’s great ideas rolled into one. The “Mythbusters” part of the format is that every deck in the tournament must include at least 16 Legends, and have no creatures, artifacts or enchantments without the Legendary supertype. Legacy Banlist.

The Auction of the GG side of the equasion is that selected GG forumgoers will create decklists to be put into the decklist “pool”, given the Mythbusters deck restrictions. Players in the tournament will bid in MT2 Chat on the decklists that they want from that pool. If that’s not possible, I’ll randomly number players in the tournament and let them choose the decklists they want in order.

Paint Drops: (Thought up by Palemage) Only spells with a single colored mana symbol in their mana costs are allowed. In other words, spells with a 3G casting cost can be played. Legacy banlist.

Potpourri: (Thought up by Spectre) No more than one card from any set is allowed in your deck i.e. 4 Absorb is okay, 1 Absorb/1 Undermine is not. Core sets are banned. Legacy banlist.

“Look at me, I’m the DCI”: (Thought up by theauthenticsimpsonian) Legacy banlist. Players who will be participating in the tournament send in 3 banned cards and those cards are banned from the format. If there is overlap in chosen banned cards, you won’t get your vote back.

Sorceries and Basics: (Thought up by Paz) Only sorceries and basic lands allowed. Legacy banlist.

So get out there and vote GGers! The next thread will be organizing the MWS tournament!

CHANGE: -1 Potpourri +1 Sorceries and Basics.

  • Uncle Mark’s Make-a-New-Format Contest and MWS Tournament

Your Duty: Make a new format for Magic: The Gathering that can be played on MWS.

Details: Essentially, come up with an original Magic: The Gathering format and we will collect the best entries and put them to a vote. Format obviously being the restrictions on which cards can be played, with possible variations and changes to the rules of Magic: The Gathering.

The winning format will be played in a MWS tournament, the specifics of which will be determined at a later date.

    Restrictions:

    • Try and make the format relatively simple. Nobody wants to memorize the 50 rules that you’ve made up.
    • It has to be playable on MWS. I.E. No manual dexterity cards, no multiplayer formats, no Unglued/Unhinged cards etc.
    • Get it in within the next couple of weeks!

    Prizes:

    • Sense of superiority and entitlement.
    • The incredibly coveted Alfred points.
    • Pictures of Paz naked*

    *May not actually be Paz.

  • Clinton Kicks Off MT2 Super Tuesday, Disintegrates

    user posted image

SAN FRANSISCO, Cal. – Hillary Clinton kicked off MiseTings2 Super Tuesday in a live press conference today. "All of the humor contest entries had been received and processed," she said. She announced and that the polls were now open for MT2 members to elect their favorite pieces of humorous content submitted throughout January.

As she spoke, her eyes began to well up with tears. "Sometimes it's a battle, you know, this whole contest thing," she said, her voice wavering. "Waking up every day, knowing that, without any breaks, you have to bear the responsibilities of dealing with the stresses of the MT2 contest."

Her next sentence was cut short when she started to lose her voice. "Excuse me," she said. "My _____ has _____ coming _____ going." Then she began to cough repeatedly. She started to cry as she coughed. Fluids began to pour from every facial orifice as the coughing became increasingly violent. She fell off of her chair and onto the ground. Her coughing became more infrequent as her body spasmed. Reporters backed away as a liquid pool expanded around her. When the press conference ended, what had once been Hillary Clinton was now just clothing and water upon the ground.

  • Hillary Clinton’s Comeback Contest

    Hillary Clinton's Comeback Header

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Reeling after a third place finish in the Iowa caucuses this week, the Hillary Clinton team is seeking to retool and rework their campaign strategy to compensate for a new state and a new demographic. Acknowledging that over 72% of New Hampshirese are fans of the card game Magic: The Gathering, she is running a “new humor article or other content” contest, asking for submissions and rewarding the most original and humorous of them.

“My opponent always talks about ‘hope, hope, hope.’ I say that he is a ‘dope, dope, dope,’” Clinton said to a New Hampshire crowd on Saturday, receiving a chorus of “boos” in response. “I don’t think he understands New Hampshirites like I do, and that’s why I’m running this ‘Mystic cards’ contest,” she continued.

Clinton is running the contest in a joint partnership with new Magic forum MiseTings2. MiseTings2 will display the submissions and reward the three best of them with three booster packs of Lorwyn each. The MiseTings2 administrator, who could not reveal his name or gender for security purposes, notes that this will set him back about $30, bringing his total site investment to $40. He added, however, that if there are more than 10 total submissions from different authors, he’ll up the prizes to 5 packs each.

He also happened to mention that the due date for the contest is February 5th, long after the relevant primaries, and that authors should free to post entries directly in the “Magic Cards Humor and Other Gaming Humor” subsection. He also said that non-Magic humor, as long as it’s gaming-related, is acceptable, and that his partnership with the Clinton campaign does not necessarily imply support.
